A B C...

I've decided to try something different. I'm going to embark on an A-Z photo quest, starting tomorrow. I figure it'll get me to do something other than take sub-par photos of birds. Instead I can take sub-par pictures of other things!

Mornings.

The older I get, the more I appreciate early mornings. The breeze outside, the coffee enjoyed watching the sunrise. The sounds of television replaced by sounds of birds and neighboring farm animals. There are even smells obtainable only at this time.
Instead of viewing mornings as a hassle I now see them as a blessing; a peaceful welcoming to another day. Each morning is my time.

This was one angry bird. He yelled at me the entire time I was outside this morning.

Black Squirrel

It's nearly impossible to get a good picture of this guy. He's more alert/jumpy and faster than the other "normal" squirrels. I took about 25 pictures of him but only a few showed up well enough to post. He's so dark all his features mesh together.

I just realized that blogger is compressing some of my pictures. If you want to view the full size, click on it and it will redirect you to the flickr page.

Hummingbird.

The quality on this is AWFUL. In fact, every picture I took this morning was in terrible lighting and turned out grainy. I vowed to upload at least one picture a day though, so here it is.

Last night I stepped outside to grab something from my truck. It was windy and smelled like rain, so I came back inside rather quickly. Right before I shut the door, this guy blew inside, landing on my shoe. I took my shoe and put it back outside, figuring he would fly off after he got his bearings about him. This morning when I stepped out, he was still there, perched on a fallen branch under the big oak tree by the door. I tried to get a few decent shots, but he kept tangoing around the branch. I took him out to the honeysuckle, surrounded by blackberry brambles to keep him hidden from the birds.
